Unite members at the RNLI lifeboat manufacturing site in East Cowes remain in dispute over the closing of the site and redundancies. Following our report in Solidarity 772 there have been two more strikes on Wednesday 19 August and Tuesday 25 August, both with similarly strong picket lines. On Tuesday 25th the strikers to decide to split their forces to send a presence to the Poole RNLI site. The intention is to increase the pressure on the bosses, who are not even entering meaningful negotiations.
The next planned action is a week of strikes from 18 September to coincide with the Southampton International Boat Show, of which the RNLI is a main sponsor.
