What kind of communism is Trump afraid of?

At a gathering of his supporters, Trump expressed his fear of a kind of communism in America that calls for better housing and a better life for ordinary people. He said that if he were to make such promises, he would become the greatest communist, but he would not do so because "these things would ruin and impoverish America."

Trump's rhetoric appears to be directed, in part, at the growing democratic socialist movement in the United States, which saw Zohran Mamdani become mayor of New York City in January 2026 and has also elected members of Congress, state legislators, and local officials in several major cities.

What a bourgeois like Trump and the Republican government fear is that movement which started from the working class and low-income strata of America and continues to grow politically, organizationally, and popularly, and in elections and votes breaks the back of the Republicans.

Trump achieved part of his successes by deceiving the working class, promising to strengthen jobs and the economy within America, but today, on the contrary, under Trump's policies and wars, workers face more inflation and unemployment. While in the first year of his presidency alone, Trump profited one billion dollars just from the digital currency market, and he turned the rest of his billionaire friends into trillionaires, and the wealth of this moneyed oligarchy cannot be hidden by any lie.

Under Trump's administration, The net worth of America’s top 1% hit a record share of nearly 32% in the third quarter of 2025, the Federal Reserve reported. By comparison, the bottom 50% cumulatively held 2.5% of overall net wealth. The portion of U.S. GDP heading to workers in the form of compensation tumbled to its lowest level in its more than 75-year history.

This is known as the K-shaped economic pattern, meaning the soaring level of capitalist wealth and the decline of workers' wages.

Therefore, workers and low-income strata, seeing these realities, turn away from Trump and his party and turn to radical struggle against the policies of the ruling parties in America.

This struggle of workers is against the hoarding of boundless capital by the capitalist class and against the impoverishment of workers. Trump is afraid that demands for housing, food, and higher wages will destroy this paradise of Trump, billionaires, and trillionaires, and that is why he sees the specter of communism in it. A communism that started from struggles on the streets, in factories, and public spaces, and has revived through the unity of workers and the political movement among the working masses, like the example of the democratic socialists in America.

Today, this new popular political movement in America is growing to achieve basic rights such as housing, wages, health, and asylum, but the danger of communism to the genuine power of the American oligarchic bourgeoisie is shown in this million-strong display of force and in every small victory. This is a new, living communism that grows from below in a popular manner and has a clear message that it does not accept this oppressive capitalist system.
