Piers Corbyn has no place in the left

Piers Corbyn at Epping

Piers Corbyn at an Epping "stop the boats" protest outside an asylum hotel

Piers Corbyn has got through the nomination process for the Central Executive Committee of Your Party. He should never have been allowed to stand. The (only) in-person hustings in London has voted not to hear him.

In the initial stages of the CEC nomination process, several socialist candidates were barred from standing. Some, from the Socialist Party, remain barred. SWPers were expelled to ban them from the Your Party conference. Chris Williamson, remains barred, though for being a member of another party (WPGB) rather than because that party is functionally right-wing and antisemitic.

The question remains: why was Jeremy’s far right, transphobic, climate denialist, conspiracy theory brother allowed to run at all?

Piers has travelled a long way since his 1970s days in the International Marxist Group (IMG). He has long haunted the left, from the days of being a maverick on the edges talking up his long range weather hokum, but he is now, by any reasonable estimation, on the far right.

During the Covid-19 pandemic you could find Piers Corbyn on demos against vaccinations, saying that the pandemic was planned, sharing a platform with David Icke.

Later we would come across him standing with far right thugs and reactionaries demonstrating against drag story times. What was Piers' contribution here? To proclaim on a loud speaker, on a demo with the far right Patriotic Alternative, that activists defending drag story time, in favour of trans rights, and socialists, were in the pay of George Soros. Now, where have we heard that one before? That sewer that he swam in, the fetid pond of antivaxx conspiracy, was a breeding ground for the far right, and he has taken it up.

In 2021, Piers, along with five of his acolytes, tried to disrupt a session at The World Transformed in Liverpool, because he thinks that climate change is a hoax.

Where else can you find Piers Corbyn? Well, outside hotels housing migrants, demanding “stop the boats” and "take the asylum-seekers back where they came from". When over 100k people marched with far right racist Tommy Robinson on 13 September 2025, Piers was with them.

We in Workers’ Liberty are for a pluralist left that argues out disagreements, can contain multiple tendencies of left thought, fights together on places of agreement, and debates the differences. We do not consider Piers Corbyn part of that left, or, on the left at all. Comrades on all sides of Your Party must reckon with this.
