RMT members in four areas on LUL stations - Victoria Centre (Euston/Green Park), King's Cross, Heathrow (Heathrow Terminals, Hatton Cross, Hounslow West), and the Special Requirements Team (SRT, a department of mobile station staff which provides extra staffing resources for events, projects, etc.) - will strike on 25 November.
RMT has again announced strikes over Night Tube “grade consolidation”, as management are intent on destroying work/life balance and bumping up dangerous, fatigue inducing shift patterns in order to save themselves some cash.
LU is taking greater and greater risks with its de-staffing of stations. Last Thursday night (8 July), Picc line trains were running late and several stations north of King's Cross (Caledonian Road, Holloway Road, Finsbury Park, Arsenal and Manor House) were either closed or running with fewer than minimum staffing numbers.
'The Sun' took an interest in Tube stations shutting last week, as a short closure of Arsenal station gave it an excuse to trot out the old anti-union cliches about railworkers mucking up the service by demanding too many tea breaks.
Acton Town staff have been alarmed to discover that management expect CSAs to work at stations on their own. Alperton, Park Royal and Sudbury Town all have duty sheets showing CSAs "babysitting" stations this coming week.
Remember that dispute about the staffing of Heathrow Terminal 5? Remember how the threat of industrial action by RMT and TSSA forced management to stick some CSAs there as well as a Supervisor?
