I find this odd, there's no special word for political sticker in French, autocollant just means sticker, google "autocollant dora l'exploratrice" for example. As for being rare in Britain... I've never been on a demo where stickers aren't handed out and on many a lamppost in Liverpool you'll find Justice for the 96 and Don't Buy the Sun stickers. The French certainly do have a lot of political stickers but they have a lot of political everything!
