Death, taxes, and frequent senseless reorganisations by LU are amongst life's certainties.

Next in line are workers in Track, Signals, and Systems, who face being shuffled around into different functions, meaning managers will now be responsible for overseeing work in area in which they have no experience. Despite announcing the reorg, bosses have not held a single meeting with unions to negotiate over it.

RMT has rightly announced plans for a ballot. A union bulletin says: "We have grave concerns about job roles being merged, headcount being lowered, working practices being eroded. This is why we must arm ourselves with the means to respond, a mandate for action."

The timetable for the ballot has yet to be announced. Hopefully we can discussing coordinating any action across other functions with live mandates.
