Outsourced security staff on Eurostar, employed by the contractor Mitie, are balloting for strikes to win the reinstatement of an unfairly sacked colleague. The ballot runs from 11 July to 1 August.
A separate dispute over pay is also in the offing, as workers have rejected the employer's latest offer. With directly-employed staff on Eurostar having just secured a £4,300 flat-rate pay increase, outsourced workers - often the lowest-paid workers in any train company - deserve the same.
Mitie's latest turnover report for the 2022/3 financial year showed record figures of £4 billion, up 58% since 2021/22.
