US RAIL WORKERS’ FIGHT FOR SICK PAY, with Marilee Taylor, Railroad Workers United

Thursday 15 December, 15:00-17:00

Rail workers in the USA have been fighting for a new contract with improved sick pay. As they gear up for potential industrial action to win their demands, President Biden is pushing anti-union legislation to prevent them from striking.

We’re honoured to host Marilee Taylor, an activist with Railroad Workers United (RWU), a cross-union rank-and-file network, to discuss the struggle, its parallels with our own fights, and how we can support each other. Check out RWU’s website here.

For background, see this interview with another RWU activist in US socialist magazine Jacobin.

This meeting is hosted by Tubeworker, a socialist industrial bulletin for London Underground workers, by London Underground workers; and Off the Rails, a blog and zine for rank-and-file rail workers, both published by Workers' Liberty.

The discussion will take place from 15:00-16:30, with a brief editorial discussion to decide the contents of the next edition of the Tubeworker bulletin from 16:30-17:00. All rank-and-file rail and transport workers are welcome.
