Closures Cost Countless Cash

Posted in Tubeworker's blog on ,

You'd think that a money-saving exercise would, erm, save money. But to the embarrassment of management and their political puppeteers, it turns out that closing ticket offices is going to cost a tidy £134 million. And that's just the construction work and kit.

Add in the cost of propaganda, countless of person-hours designing this appalling policy, and paying people to stop working for London Underground rather than carry on working here - and it'll cost a fortune.

Here at Tubeworker, we're rather more bothered about the human cost - to the passengers who will be excluded and distressed, and in the loss of jobs and services for Londoners. But if the Mayor and TfL are going to value money more highly than people, they could at least do their sums.
