Unite members vote for action

Unite has secured an industrial action mandate across LU and most of TfL. Their ballot was over pension cuts and the pay freeze for centrally-employed TfL staff.

Mandates were secured in LU, Surface Operations, Network Management Control Centre, Compliance, Policing, and On-Street Service (CPOS)...

No pensions changes "for several years"?

We keep hearing, for example in the latest edition of On the Move, that there will be no pension changes for "several years". Sounds okay, until, if you're 40 or under, you remember that you won’t be retiring for at least 20 years... plenty of time for changes to made made!

And for those retiring...

The pensions...

London Underground is lying to us

RMT reps met with LU via conciliation service Acas on 17 February, to discuss attacks on jobs, conditions, and pensions. The union quite rightly reiterated that we are not interested in negotiating the detail of cuts; we oppose them outright, and want the employer to back off altogether.

All out on 1 and 3 March!

RMT has called strikes on London Underground for 1 and 3 March. These strikes will be the first time RMT’s entire LU membership - which includes workers in all functions: drivers, station staff, fleet and engineering workers, signallers, service controllers, and others – has struck together since...

Pension cuts are coming: prepare to fight!

TfL has now announced the timetable and terms of reference for the company's formal review of our pension scheme. We'll know the options they're considering by 31 October, and there'll be "implementation plan" by 31 March 2022. TfL bosses have said that "retain the status quo" could be a...
