Unite steelworkers vote to strike
Around 1,400 Tata steelworkers, members of Unite based in Port Talbot and Llanwern (Newport), have voted decisively for industrial action over the company’s plan to close its blast furnaces and shed 2,800 jobs. The ballot closed on 9 April. Community, the majority union in the steelworks, started a ballot on action on 11 April, and it will run for a month. GMB started a ballot on 5 April.
