Palestine: the status quo cannot continue

After the recent killing of four Israelis by (most likely Hamas-affiliated) Palestinians, Israel’s Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu “promised” harsh retaliation. In fact Netanyahu’s promise was an announcement after the fact — already the Old City of Jerusalem had been closed to all non-resident Palestinians, and a hundred or more had been wounded by Israeli troops around the West Bank.
