Stop the execution of Habibollah Latifi!

Habibollah Latifi a 29 years old Kurdish activist and student was set to be executed on 26 December. At the time of writing there has been a 24 hour stay of execution. Campaigners are urging activists to continue writing letters of protest to the Iranian government. (More information http://www.enduringamerica.com/home/2010/12/26/iran-snapshot-the-delaye…)

Latifi who was majoring in engineering in Eylam University when he was arrested on October 23rd 2007 in the city of Sanandaj. He was charged with “endangering state security” and was brutally tortured in order to force a confession from him. Eight months after his arrest he was sentenced to death by the “Revolutionary Court” in the city of Sanandaj and the death sentence was upheld by the “Court of Appeal” in Sanandaj in February 2009.

Since November 2009 the Iranian regime has executed at least 7 Kurdish political activists, including Ehsan Fatahiyan, Fasih Yasamini, Farzad Kamangar, Farhad Vakili, Hassan Hekmat Demir, Ali Heydariyan and Ms. Shirin Alamhooli.
