John McDonnell MP has backed the Socialist Campaign to Stop the Tories and Fascists.

McDonnell, who chairs the Labour Representation Committee, challenged Gordon Brown for the Labour leadership when Tony Blair stood down, and has been one of the few consistent voices of working-class opposition within the Labour Party to New Labour neo-liberalism. He is working hard to hold his Hayes and Harlington constituency after the Government's decision for a third runway at Heathrow (on the fringes of the constituency) and the Tories' promise to cancel it.

He has appealed to left-wingers - Labour Party members or not - to come to the constituency to help.

He has also given his support to SCSTF's drive to build a left-wing voice within the "vote Labour" camp right across the country. Talking to me yesterday, 10 March, he said: "The most important thing is that this is taken into the unions".
