With ballot papers about to be sent out in the election for RMT's London Transport Regional Organiser, Tubeworker urges its readers to vote for Steve Hedley.

Tubeworker also reports on the inquest into the shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes at Stockwell station, asking questions about police accountability. Workplace reports include Meronet's return to LUL, more abuses of the sickness policy, and the latest on cleaners' pay. We also carry a letter from a member of SRT staff.

No need to apologise. Your comments from the SRT frontline are very welcome!

The unions need a strategy to defend SRT staff, based on organising those staff themselves. We hear reports of such a strategy from RMT, but the sooner it is in action, the better.
