Pensions, Pay and Privatisation
Why healthworkers should reject the NHS Pension proposals
With accusations still flying around that it was overly generous pay deals that led to the current financial crisis in the NHS it might seem a little selfish for staff to be worrying about their pensions when the future of the NHS itself now seems to be at stake.

NHS Logistics: All out to save our health service
Submitted on 17 September, 2006 - 20:33
In a magnificent show of defiance this week, hundreds of NHS workers in the supply service NHS Logistics will take the first national strike action in the NHS for 18 years. The one-day strike starting at 10pm tonight will mark an end to the 'phony war' between the unions and the Government over NHS privatisation, and could spark a national fightback against the selling off of the NHS to the private sector.

Reject Agenda for Change!
On a very close vote, UNISON's special health conference decided to recommend that we vote yes to Agenda for Change (AfC). But that is only half the story. The conference was denied a card vote, which would have shown how evenly split the union is over the proposals. And Amicus, the other major union also balloting this month, has not made a recommendation either way.

Submitted on 26 June, 2003 - 17:11
AWL members published a daily bulletin at the 2003 conference of Unison, the giant public-services union which is Britain's largest. Download the bulletins here. (Sorry, for technical reasons they're not in the tidiest format we could wish for: some headings are missing, and the pdfs have some extra blank pages. But we hope this gives readers an idea of the issues at this important conference, and what the AWL did).
