Metronet Discontent

Just in case you were thinking that everything is now hunky-dory in Metronet-land, think again. The company's return to TfL has been postponed, Bombardier is insisting that it owns a couple of hundred of the staff, and most workers are still denied terms and conditions they would have enjoyed had they not been privatised.

So Metronet workers are demanding:

  • The right to be in the TfL Pension Fund.

  • The right to staff passes that cover the same services as LUL staff's.
  • No re-privatisation to Bombardier.
  • The 0.75% pay rise that was awarded post-privatisation but should have been backdated to pre-privatisation.

The workers are calling on RMT to organise strike action before the Mayor/GLA election in May, and for this to be co-ordinated with other strikes in the Transport for London sphere. Gearing up for this, the Metronet strike committee - which was key to the success of earlier disputes - is to be revived.

And let's not forget - We also need to be fighting for TubeLines to return to the public sector too.
