Journey into the blogosphere

I've been a socialist activist for 20 years now which sounds pretty depressing really, as I'm under 40 and feel younger still! Keeping an AWL members blog without boring the pants off will be a taks in itself but anyway here goes...

Anyway I thought this was interesting. From the otherwise interesting blog of Ecosocialist leader of the Green Party Derek Wall, seemingly voicing sympathy with the prospect of SNP/Green government in Scotland.

Greens agree deal to govern Scotland
The Scottish Green Party has signed up to SNP government. Great stuff, the voters clearly want rid of Labour and while the SNP is far from perfect, the deal involves support for specific Green Party policies. Certainly the SNP has been more sympathetic to environmental quality, anti-nuclear policies and justice than 'New labour'

'Confidence and supply' is a good model, much better than carte blanche support...

Getting into bed with the SNP clearly IS not something that can be supported to any extent, especially given the support received by them by certain high profile business people like Stagecoach king, Brian Souter.

Interestingly the Guardian quites (ex) Green MSP,Patrick Harvie, saying: 'Brian Souter is well known for having spent his money on a prejudiced, misleading and manipulative campaign and for trying to organise a sham referendum to subvert the democratic process'.

Don't quite know whats going on here then!

Im generally in favour of engaging as much as positive with the ecosocialist wing of the Greens and for socialists considering environmental issues more seriously, but clearly criticism has to be made of nonsense such as this.
