You've got to admire their cheek. LUL send a letter to every member of staff at home explaining why they won't give you a pay rise - and it's signed by a bloke on a quarter of a million quid a year! Actually, you don't have to admire that at all.

The company's explanation was notable for its weakness. Apparently, the reason we can't have our 4% is because it is a "premium" for a multi-year deal. What kind of "premium" is 4% when inflation is now up to 4.4%?!

The letter's basic line of argument is this. We're not going to give you your pay rise, so you shouldn't strike. Now, that logic is totally on its head. Au contraire, Mr O'Toole, the fact that you won't give us your pay rise is precisely the reason why we should strike!
