Reject Network Rail pay offer!

Off The Rails leaflet, 23 June 2006.
Signallers’ and Operational Staff pay
Reject Network Rail’s insult!
FOR A 35 HOUR WEEK NOW!
FOR A 1 YEAR DEAL!
FOR A FAIR PAY RISE!

At a national meeting of our area reps on Wednesday 21 June a large majority voted to reject this latest deal. That is now the agreed position of the union nationally. There is no reason for any signal worker or operational staff member to accept this deal.

FACT. We negotiated the 35 hour week as part of a previous pay deal, what is it doing in this one?

FACT. S&T and P-Way workers achieved a one year deal which is both Signalling and Clerical and Supervisory grades’ conference policy.

FACT. Our threat of strike action has forced Network Rail back to the negotiating table. We are in a position of strength, with a strong mandate for strike action. The threat of strike action caused some Train Operating Companies to alter their working arrangements.

It’s time our union drew up a campaign strategy based on increasing the pressure on Network Rail via industrial action and the support of other grades rather than lending credibility to any rubbish offer Network Rail cares to make.

THE RMT RECOMMENDS REJECTION OF THE DEAL. START THE STRIKES. LOOK TO THE SOLIDARITY OF OTHER GRADES.
