AWL London Forum: Capitalism in crisis

15 Nov 2007 - 7:30pm

Location:

Lucas Arms, 245A Grays Inn Road, near Kings X

Description:

Speakers include Massimo De Angelis and Martin Thomas. Download pdf leaflet below (see "attachment").

A splurge of dodgy mortgage lending in the USA has led to a credit crunch which has already produced bank crises in Germany and the UK. What is it about the modern financial system that makes trouble spread so wide and unpredictably? How do the claims that "the new economy" has made the crises of capitalism obsolete stand up now? How likely is it that the financial chaos will spill over into big disruptions in trade and production?
