AWL London forum: Workers vs the ANC - the class struggle in South Africa

AWL discussion meetings

7.30pm, Thursday 26 July
The Lucas Arms, Grays Inn Road (five minutes from Kings Cross tube and rail)
For a downloadable leaflet for this meeting see here.

Last month millions of South Africa's public sector workers came out on strike in opposition to the austerity imposed on the South African working class by the African National Congress government. Although that strike is over, class conflict in South Africa continues to intensify. Yet the country's main union federation, COSATU, continues to give its support to the ANC: the main party of the country's ruling class.

We will be discussing the current wave of class struggles in South Africa, the historical role of the workers' movement in the fight against apartheid and the possibility of South African workers breaking with the ANC and starting out on the difficult road to working-class political independence with a party of their own.

All welcome
