Hazel Blears and Sweatshops

Posted in Janine's blog on ,

The freebie Metro newspaper today informs us that beloved-of-this-blog Hazel Blears has been caught out being dodgy again. And here is the story in the Manchester Evening News.
This time, she has allegedly been commissioning her campaign material (she's standing for Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, for those who hadn't noticed / don't care) from sweatshops. And not just any old run-of-the-mill sweatshop either. No, Hazel has dirtied her hands with a company linked not only to killing 64 sweatshop workers in Bangladesh in 2005 but to refusing to give their families any money afterwards. Nice.

Hazel herself now seems mightily embarrassed and has suspended her campaign shop. A tip: check your suppliers before you get caught out.
