DLR Workers Force Better Pay Offer

After workers voted by 84% to reject both their stingy offers, DLR management felt obliged to come back with something better. Here it is:

  • 2007: 4.8% rise + double time for bank holidays
  • 2008: RPI +0.8%, or 3.5%, whichever is the greater; plus one extra day annual Leave
  • 2009: RPI +0.8%, or 3.5%, whichever is the greater; plus another extra day Annual Leave

That's significantly better than what was on the table before, and shows that you don't have to accept crap. It's also miles better than the awful deal that the unions accepted on LUL.

Mind you, it is a three-year deal, so if we go along with the RMT Executive's recommendation to accept it, we will be tying ourselves up for three years - and with the cost of living in London rising faster than in the rest of the country, those pay figures may end up not being quite as good as they look.
