WRM Review: Call This Consultation?!

Rule Book (Non-)Dispute 2007

Tubeworker has reported previously on the attacks on safety standards coming under the guise of the Working Reference Manual (WRM) review. It comes as no great surprise that while the companies go through the motions of consulting trade union reps, those reps believe that they are not in fact being consulted properly.

The Infraco reps have had no process for raising or resolving their concerns, and where they have made referrals, have received no feedback. The reps allege that management have ignored their own negotiating rules, not provided adequate release or full access to documents, and set deadlines which were impossible for reps to meet.

We could be careering towards a dispute on this issue. If that's what it takes to make management play fair, and to protect the rules that protect our safety, then so be it.
