LUL Pay: A Waiting Game?

Posted in Tubeworker's blog on ,

While LUL persists with its awful pay offer, TSSA has taken the worst possible option and accepted it, willingly condemning their members to inadequate pay rises for three years. To make matters worse, TSSA has accepted conditions for train drivers who they don't even represent, and accepted the arbitrary and divisive 'customer satisfaction bonus' where we'll get a bit of extra pay if enough commuters are in a good mood when a clipboard-wielder asks them how they feel!

145 TSSA members were sensible enough to vote No. They should go to their next branch meeting and have a right go! Or perhaps join a better union.

Fortunately, RMT and ASLEF have not accepted this rubbish. However, they seem to be pursuing a strategy of sitting back and waiting, hoping that LUL - under pressure to deliver late running for the Mayor - will cave in.

This seems like a very risky strategy to Tubeworker. It looks like once again, management get to set the agenda and the unions make themselves bystanders. We need a more proactive fight to make the company pay up for this year now. There is a willingness to strike in some locations but not in others. We can address this unevenness by going out and talking instead of sitting back and waiting.
