Wear a wristband, support exploitation?
Make Poverty History is the theme of the protests that will surround the G8 summit at Gleneagles this summer. No Sweat will be heading along in full tweeds, as our Golfers Against Sweatshops make for the Gleneagles greens.
To show your support for Make Poverty History, the organisers are asking you to wear plastic wristbands. Apparently beating poverty is a completely separate issue from beating sweatshop exploitation though, as these bands are made in China.
If you oppose both poverty and exploitation, you can buy Traidcraft fair trade Make Poverty History armbands, made in the UK.

MAKE POVERTY HISTORY
Made in Taiwan
I visitied the linked site and the bands there are 'Made in Taiwan' not 'Made in the UK' as you state.
Traidcraft's wristband
When I bought my wristband, from the Just.. fairtrade shop in Leicester, they confirmed that the Traidcraft ones were fair trade. However, looking at the Traidcraft website they now seem to sell a range of wristbands, only one of which is labelled as 'fair trade' - it is made in Mauritius:

The TUC also have their own wristband for Make Poverty History, which carries the slogan "respect workers' rights" but there's nothing on the TUC website to indicate whether that band has been made in sweatshop conditions, either.

It really shouldn't be this difficult to support MPH without compromising on workers' rights, should it?
DIY
Just make your own - white fabric and a pen will do the job.
