WTF ASLEF?

Posted in Tubeworker's blog on ,

Tubeworker was disappointed to read a circular from Aslef reps telling their members to grass up CSAs who they spotted using their company-issue iPads on the platforms while doing SATS.

In fact, CSAs are encouraged to have our iPads with us on platforms, to check TrackerNet and answer customer queries. It doesn't mean we're not vigilant when dispatching trains.

And if Aslef really wanted to ensure all platforms were staffed with fully-attentive station staff, they should've fought harder - or, indeed, at all - against the implementation of "Fit for the Future", which saw nearly 1,000 frontline stations jobs axed.

If RMT or TSSA issued a circular to station staff members encouraging them to spy on drivers and grass up any of them who didn't look sufficiently "vigilant" while in the cab, Aslef would rightly blow a fuse. But it's alright for them to do it?

Yet another example of how grade-based unions only serve to divide us.
