How To Speak Management

Posted in Tubeworker's blog on ,

TfL has devised a new editorial guide for a unified "tone of voice". It covers how to sound "proud", "honest", "trustworthy" and "warm". The guide suggests: instead of "utilise", try "use"; instead of "notify" use "tell"; and instead of "commence" say "start." How helpful.

In the spirit of this, Tubeworker has identified a few more curious synonyms that we've noticed LUL using in recent months and years.

Instead of "1,000 job cuts and every ticket office closed", use "Fit for the Future"; instead of "do more work for less money", use "flexible"; instead of "you will be made to work on the opposite side of London", say "nobody will have to work more than half an hour from their current location".

It's hard speaking management's language sometimes, but we hope this handy guide will help you keep up!
