Warwick University students and their supporters protest against police violence

Following the 10,000 strong 19 November demonstration for free education, organised by National Campaign Against Fees and Cuts, Wednesday 3 December saw student protests across Britain, including at least six student occupations.

One of these, at Warwick University, met with brutal police repression, including use of CS gas. As a result, something like a thousand students demonstrated on the Warwick campus on 4 December, and students have now occupied the Vice Chancellor's suite where the VC was due to hold a dinner. Solidarity protests are taking place elsewhere including an occupation at Sussex University. There will be student marches taking place across the country on Saturday, and these will make solidarity with Warwick and opposition to police violence one of their focuses.

The slogan "Cops off campus", raised during the protests of late 2013 after police repressed the University of London occupation in solidarity with UoL's cleaners, is back. This time we must not let it drop.

Workers' Liberty members active in the NCAFC helped organise these protests, and have gone to Warwick to offer solidarity and take part in the struggle. More soon. Meanwhile for more details see the website of the NCAFC, which is being updated regularly, and the Warwick for Free Education blog.
