Antonio Gramsci and Leon Trotsky are not often linked in academic scholarship - yet both were leaders of the Communist International before it was corrupted by Stalinism and both made central, irreplaceable contributions to the classical Marxist tradition. Was Gramsci the same sort of Marxist as Trotsky? What is the relationship between their ideas, and what relevance do they have for revolutionary activists today?

"Some of the ideas Gramsci would bring in to the battle to shape the newe Italian Communist Party had already been shaped in his editing of the paper Ordine Nuovo. Location:

Description:

Although post-modernism and various other schools of thought have attempted to appropriate his legacy, Gramsci's contribution to Marxism sets him out as a dedicated fighter for working-class power. Centrally involved in revolutionary class struggles in Italy in the early 20th century, Gramsci developed ideas and methods for how the working-class could take control of their workplaces and society. With the last two years witnessing a spate of workplace occupations in the UK, can we apply Gramsci's ideas on factory councils today?
