Probably the "weightiest" item so far in the literature of the Galloway side of the current split in Respect is a long open letter to the SWP from Socialist Worker New Zealand, available for example on the Socialist Unity blog.

As against George Galloway and his close friends, our sympathies in the split now taking place in Respect cannot but be with the SWP.

Is part of the story behind the split in Respect a drive by George Galloway to corral the CPB (Communist Party of Britain, the elderly rump-Stalinoid group behind the Morning Star paper)? We've speculated that it may be so. So far it looks as if we are wrong.

It seems increasingly unlikely that the Respect conference on 17-18 November will happen at all. The Galloway faction has declared that "We no longer have confidence that the conference called for 17/18 November will be validly constituted".
