TSSA: don't give up the fight!

Posted in Tubeworker's blog on ,

It seems that by not taking part in the upcoming strikes, the TSSA leadership is saying it doesn't care if 953 jobs are abolished; it just wants to protect the conditions of those who stay behind.

That's not what TSSA thought late last year when it joined up with local Labour Parties for a leafleting campaign condemning the job cuts and ticket office closures. What's changed? The best way to protect conditions for existing workers is to stop the job cuts. Job cuts will leave us working harder; LU wants to renegotiate our Framework Agreement for increased "flexibility". We'll be displaced to fit LU's reduced staffing model. LU has not guaranteed we will keep our current salary.

There is nothing on the table yet that is good enough to settle for. Now is not the time to give up. We need to press forward - all LU workers in all unions, united! TSSA members should join RMT's next strikes, and ASLEF and Unite members should respect RMT picket lines too.
