'The Sun' took an interest in tube stations shutting last week, as a short closure of Arsenal station gave it an excuse to trot out the old anti-union cliches about railworkers mucking up the service by demanding too many tea breaks.
The truth of the matter is that a member of station staff at Arsenal took the scheduled meal break (not a 'tea break'!), and the station had to close. Why? Because management's current practice of de-staffing stations in preparation for job cuts meant that they did not bother covering the meal break turn.
A Tubeworker 'Thanks to You' award goes to that member of staff for standing up for their (and all our) rights. What does The Sun expect us to do - work a full shift without eating?!

No Surprise
What do you expect from an anti-worker, racist, sexist and fascist "newspaper"?
Mind you, this story is tame compared to what they said about the Hillsborough football tragedy. Saying that fans urinated on the emergency services whilst they were attending to the dead and injured. Scumbags like Murdoch and Kelvin McKenzie will be the first ones to be thrown into the labour camps once the revolution comes.
Indeed
Well, quite. Mind you, we could always provide them with even more stories by making sure that whenever stations are under-staffed, they close.
Better still, that might even help persuade management to staff them properly and keep them open!
