We hear that the Holborn CSA caught on a YouTube video has resigned his job. Disturbingly, we also hear that this was on the advice of his union (TSSA).
Apparently, they have a plan to take an Employment Tribunal case for constructive dismissal. However, that places a lot of faith in a legal system that nine times out of ten backs the bosses, and the CSA could well be left out of a job with no - or just token - compensation. Even if the case succeeds, the whole episode will be a big encouragement to mobile-phone crusaders to ride round the combine filming staff in an effort to get Tube workers sacked.
We pay union subs partly so that when we need their support and representation, we get it. Many staff will now be asking whether it is worth a monthly subs payment to this particular union just for advice to give up and cling to a fragile legal straw.
