The virtual world has got itself into a frenzy about this video, showing a CSA allegedly being rude to a passenger at Holborn station.
BBC London News and the Evening Standard have run the story, BoJo (known for a few outbursts in his time) has chipped in his condemnation, and there is an organised online campaign to get the guy sacked.
It is notable that many (though not all) of the "sack him" comments on YouTube are threats of violence against the CSA, pathetic taunts about his hairstyle, or abuse of Tube workers in general, complete with references to strikes, excessive wages and Bob Crow (whose name they don't even manage to spell correctly).
Whatever the rights and wrongs of the incident - and this short clip may well not tell the whole story - there is no justice in "trial by internet". If London Underground sacks the CSA on the basis of this lynch-mob campaign, then that will be a green light for anyone inclined that way to go round London with their mobile phones out, filming workers, trying to catch people out and get them sacked. Frontline Tube workers will be under constant attack, as will anyone else who works with the public, be they paramedics or posties, shopworkers or firefighters.
Only bosses will be out of the firing line, safe in their offices away from public scrutiny.
