CSS Bonus - Dangling the Proverbial Carrot
LUL Employee communications released the CSS (Customer Satisfaction Survey) results for 2007/8 in an internal bulletin on the 10th April.
We did not achieve the target of 78, finishing with an oh so near, but so far score of 77!
Now, the managing director has been "so impressed and proud of our efforts over the past year" that the CSS target has been adjusted, therefore we shall all be receiving the £250 bonus (which is taxable) with our wages next week!
Great isn't it? Well that is exactly what management want you to think!
Remember: We did not receive this bonus for the first 2 years of the 3 year deal.
There are some areas of this bonus that are beyond our control, aspects that are affected by the infracos set up by PPP which are constantly failing to deliver thus affecting any potential of attaining this bonus.
We did not in fact reach the target that had been set and with the next instalment of pay negotiations on the horizon, the management are attempting to manipulate us by awarding the bonus and will attempt to include another target-related payment as part of the next pay deal.
I find the timing of this bonus questionable to say the least!
Tubeworker was not at all impressed with the fact that the unions accepted a multi-year deal which included a part-performance related pay which, incidentally is not pensionable.
If LUL are, as they have stated, so proud of our work, then they will have no problem rewarding us by negotiating any further pay deals on a yearly basis and not trying to weaken us by tying us down with another multi-year deal!
