Climbing Down?

Posted in Tubeworker's blog on ,

RMT has called off its strike dates in defence of Sarah Appleby. Ostensibly, this is for 'further talks', but with no sign of management reinstating Sarah, it looks like a climbdown from here.

Given that RMT members at Morden had asked for a strike ballot, and voted Yes in the ballot, it would seem odd if their willingness to strike had simply evaporated. It is important that a union sees through what it started.

One of the basic functions of a union is to defend its members. The union must ask itself whether its members can still be confident in its ability to do so.
