Full Steam Ahead! All Out On 5-6 August!

Posted in Tubeworker's blog on ,

With the company's latest joke offer (see here for our take) decisively rejected by all four unions, it's full steam ahead for the 5-6 August strike.

Our immediate job is to make the strike as solid as possible and organise lively, well-supported picket lines across the combine. But we need to have an eye on what happens next. With management playing hard-ball, we know it'll probably take more than one further 24-hour strike to knock them over. RMT has already announced its intention to escalate to 48 hours; we hope other unions follow suit, and seriously discuss the possibility of stepping it up beyond that too.

While the mood is up and the momentum is with us, we should make a serious assessment about what level of action will be necessary to win, and then it'll be down to all of us to build the collective confidence and resolve to take it.

See you on the picket lines!
